Counselling

What to do with an unexpected pregnancy is an issue that confronts almost every woman at some point in their life. It is a decision that is often difficult to make and can be made even harder by personal circumstance, or lack of support. On average every woman alive will have one induced abortion at some point in their fertile years. In Australia alone, this equates to approximately 80,000 terminations each year. As a result, we believe that access to safe, lawful abortion is essential to women’s health and well-being, and strive to create a safe and supportive environment for women seeking pregnancy termination.

The goal of pregnancy counselling is to explore your options regarding pregnancy and eventually allow you to make a comfortable, informed decision regarding your pregnancy. Counselling at our clinic is always performed one on one with a specially trained counsellor in the comfort of a private room. It is completely confidential, non-judgemental, and unbiased, and whatever your decision, you will be respected and supported emotionally throughout your stay. All information regarding the procedure, possible complications and aftercare will be explained, and any queries will be answered. We can also provide information regarding contraception, and arrange any contraceptive services you may require.

If you would like to have a partner with you for support, that can be arranged with your counsellor, however we will spend a small amount of time alone with you ensure there is no possibility of pressure or coercion.

While the counselling and procedure are generally done on the same day, if it would benefit you to schedule the procedure for an alternate day we can certainly accommodate your request.
